TB-500 is a synthetic peptide fragment of thymosin beta-4, a protein that occurs naturally in almost every cell in the body. The fragment is seven amino acids long and corresponds to the part of thymosin beta-4 that binds actin, one of the main building blocks of the cell's internal scaffolding.
It has been studied primarily in animal and laboratory models of cell movement, blood vessel formation and tissue repair. There are no published human clinical studies of the fragment.
