Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide developed at Novo Nordisk and first described in 1998. It binds the ghrelin receptor (GHSR-1a), the same receptor as the earlier growth hormone releasing peptides, and was designed to be more selective for that receptor than they are.
It has mainly been studied in cell and animal models. Published human data is limited.
